How to...
Keep only mp3 you haven't burned on CD yet
I am a Mp3 crack. I download mp3 all day, I burn mp3 CDs, a lot of CDs. Now my hard drive is full (of Mp3,
of course!), and I have to make some cleaning. I want to keep non-burned Mp3s and erase those I already burned on CD.
What to do?
You will have to create a mp3 list to track files on CD. Then, you will be able to compare your collection
on your hard drive with your collection on CD.
- Click on New Profile. The Hardcoded crazy wizard will pop.
- Select "Scan for duplicates in my collection.".
- Check "Advanced settings".
- Click Next.
- Select "on CD, with dupes on my hard drive".
- Click Next.
- Select "I have no Mp3 List built and I want to build one now".
- Click Next twice.
- Write down a list name, like "my_cd_col".
- Insert a CD of you collection in your CD-ROM drive.
- Select the CD-ROM drive with your CD in, and click Next.
-
Type the name of your CD. Usually, the default name is fine. The best name you can give it is
what is written on the CD itself.
- Click Next and wait until Mp3 filter is finished scanning the CD.
-
As long as you have another CD to add, select "Yes" and repeat the preceding steps. When you're
finished, select "No" and click Next.
- Click Next twice.
- Select the directory where your hard drive collection is.
-
Unless you have more than 1 directory to add for you HD collection, select "No" and click
Next.
- Review the directory summary and click Next.
- Choose a filter sensitivity level. A good one is the "99% safe" one (ID3 tag comparison).
- Type a profile name and comments, and click Next.
- Click Finish.
When you will run the newly created profile, you will have a list of duplicates between your CD collection and
your HD collection. In other words, the files listed there are already in your CD collection, so you
can delete them.
