moneyGuru
moneyGuru is a personal finance management application. With it, you can evaluate your current financial situation so you can make informed (and thus better) financial decisions. Most finance applications have the same goal, but moneyGuru's difference is in the way it achieves it. Rather than having reports which you have to configure (or find out which pre-configured report is the right one), your important financial data (net worth, profit) is constantly up-to-date and "in your face". This allows you to constantly make informed decision rather than doing so periodically. moneyGuru has a very efficient navigation and edition system which allows you to painlessly go around your accounts and transactions and modify them. Keyboard shortcuts are neatly designed and efficient. Values are auto-completed when it makes sense. Date edition uses a special widget that lets you edit dates with the least possible number of keystrokes, regardless of your date format. moneyGuru is loosely based on the double-entry accounting system, where every account -- including income and expenses -- is a first class account, not just a category. It allows for a lot of flexibility in finance management strategies (such as cash management). moneyGuru's support for currencies is way ahead all competitors. Where those who bother with currencies at all do it half-heartedly with poorly thought out designs, currencies are at the core of moneyGuru's design. If you want to get a quick tour of some of the interesting features in moneyGuru, try the Quick Tour page. It walks you through the example document shipped with the application and shows you a couple of features that make it great and, hopefully, will make you want to learn more about it. Requirements
Early ReleasemoneyGuru has been in development for nearly a year now. I've learned in my many years of development that user feedback is crucial. If you go too long without it, you might be heading in a completely wrong direction. Very popular software development companies use beta versions to get that feedback. Small software companies like Hardcoded Software can't do that because they don't have enough people knowing about the beta to have any significant user base. Some features which are considered standard in finance management applications, such as printing, are not present in this version. However, this is not a beta version. The features that are implemented are polished and tested and ready for prime time. So that is why the name that I use is "Early Release". The target price for moneyGuru is 49.95. However, because not all planned features are implemented yet, moneyGuru is sold at the reduced price of 39.95. Every new release will bring the price closer to the target price until all standard features have been implemented (at which point, some of the wicked new ideas on the table will be implemented). This point should normally be reached at version 1.5. Of course, like any Hardcoded Software product, you get lifetime updates. This means that by buying moneyGuru early, you save money (and that's in extra of all the money you save by making sound financial decisions!). |
