Notes About Linux

With so many flavors of Linux all around, providing support for it is quite a challenge. Therefore, although Hardcoded Software applications should work on all Linux distributions, the distribution of reference is Ubuntu. To install HS apps on Ubuntu, simply download the .deb package from the application page and double-click on it.

Can't install deb files?

If you can't install .deb files, you can always build HS applications from source (a link to each application's source code is present on their respective page).

Auto-updates

For now, HS applications will not automatically update themselves like the rest of the system does, through apt. I'd need to setup my own apt repository, and from the fiddling around I've done so far, it's quite a complex matter. So, for now, updating apps involves downloading it from the website and re-installing the downloaded .deb package.

Community builds

Gregor Tätzner started maintaining non-Ubuntu builds for dupeGuru. I can't vouch for them because I haven't tried them, but that might be a good alternative to building from source.
